Denver to Colorado Springs RV Parks

Yahoo Message Number: 23806
We are traveling to the Denver to Colorado Springs area in early August. Can anyone out there recommend a very good RV park in that corridor? Can anyone comment on Garden of the Gods RV Campground or Mountaindale Campground? Thanks for any help you can give us - we need to make reservations soon!

I think it depends in what you are looking for in the way of an RV park. We have stayed in the Garden of the Gods RV Campground and personally wouldn't recommend it. The sites are very small and very close together and very expensive. One time when we stayed there, we stayed at the supposedly great sites near the creek bank. To get to these sites you had to exit the park and re-enter by another path (and not an easy path). These sites were also very muddy and not worth the extra charge. We have not stayed at Mountaindale so have no opinion of it.
When we go to Colorado Springs we are usually going to visit our son and grandchildren so spend very little time at the campground. We usually stay at the Goldfield RV Park which is just down the street from Garden of the Gods. They have absolutely no amenities other than excellent Wi-Fi service and its kinda like a big parking lot, but if you're gone from the coach all the time that's not a problem.
Most people that go to CS seem to prefer to stay at the KOA in Fountain. It, too, is very expensive but nice. However, we, as a matter of personal policy, do not stay in KOAs, so have never stayed there.

We stayed at the Garden of the Gods campground last year and it was very nice. However, the number of spots that can accommodate a 40'+ coach appear to be limited. We were only 32' at the time and were able to get into a shorter spot but the locations for the larger coaches were all full (this was over Labor Day so that may have influenced the availability but I would call for reservations).
