selling an 03 Allure

You've two options, first get really lucky or secondly, make your low hole around 148,000 and the coach will go away. hope the first one works!

$ 148,000 for this coach is ridiculous with new Inspires with all their problems and which are not nearly the quality coach as mine selling for $ 100,000 or more over my price. I'll keep it and just drive it for short distances before I let it go at such a give-away price.

How far 'upside down' are you in the coach?

NADA retail is 20 to 30 percent high. This is done to make financing possible, as well as making it possible for a dealer to take a trade. If you think you can get NADA retail, you are dreaming. NADA retail is an inflated value. Also, remember every month it is worth less....... Most of the time your first loss is the cheapest. Most Manufacturers currently have more inventory available than the Dealers will take, Their lots are full..... both the Dealers and the Manufacturers. If you want to move it, it has to be the best value in the market. You are not going to be able to get what a Dealer can get. You cannot offer the perceived value a Dealer can, financing, insurance, the perception the Dealer will take care of them after the sale.... If you will not take what the coach is worth in the real world, plan on having it till it is an antique...

The only person who determines the "worth" of a used car, RV, house, lamp, etc. is a willing and able buyer. If you have no buyers at $x after a period of time on the market it means that nobody feels it's "worth" that. NADA guides have nothing to do with actual sale prices of vehicles. If you really want to sell a vehicle in this "off season", market it on all the internet sites you can with "Best Offer" and see what offers come in. If you're on a "lot" you are at the mercy of someone who comes onto the lot and "might" want to buy a CC...but then again, most wouldn't be looking for a CC there that would fit their needs. On the 'net, one can peruse the ads and see exactly what they want, so they can put in CC for search and find the year and model they want. If I were looking for a used CC, that's where I'd go...not a nearby used RV lot.

I have been following the thread about selling a coach for some weeks now and have a couple of comments.
Basically, we all need to plan ahead for the day we can no longer use the coach.
If still capable and willing to drive the coach it might make sense to attend a few rallies and post a 'for sale' sign in the windows. For example, at a home coming rally you might get a couple of hundred owners that will see the coach. Even if they do not want a change they might well know someone who is thinking about a purchase.
You might want to think about a family member (a potential heir) and let them have some of their inheritance early!
Maybe owning a lot somewhere nice makes some sense, it could be parked permanently as a holiday home!!!!!!
Remember, if you are unable to drive the coach due to health issues it is still possible to hire a professional driver. For those who snowbird three months at a time in one place this could be a way of maintaining a life style.
Maybe other would like to comment about their personal 'exit' strategies. We could all use good ideas.

Walt I have one for you. Orange Country R.V. buys Motor homes and resale's same. He said he might give me 140 for the unit, but it would be more like 132 and that diesel's are hard to sell. However, that means to me is he is going to make between 40 and 50K on the sale. As I told you I am looking at all the options, so now we know the bottom number, which means others can make money at our bottom number. So I think we are in good shape at 185 to 175, as the guy said we just have to find the right ass for our saddle. Will keep you posted, am checking on e-bay next.

I think the main thing to remember when trying to sell your unit is to make it as attractive as possible - give to next buyer all the information up front so he can make the next move forward ? encourage offers ? you don't need to accept but it gives you the option to counter and open up a line of dialogue ? if you don't you will never know what trips his trigger or if you have what he is looking for.
Most internet shoppers are in a hurry and don't spend a great deal of time looking at things they are not interested in ? so make your pitch interesting reading and informative. You need to take him off the market before someone else lures him into their product. Be open minded and creative. There are many rigs for sale ? why does he want this one? What attracted you to it in the first place ? Not shades of brown? Not your standard off the line Allure? Then highlight those items that were different. Listing a bunch of standard specifications is boring. A real buyer knows what the std. specs are (or they will take the time to find out) or in your listing tell them where to look to find the std. spec. The key is they are spending what appears to them to be a great deal of money - lord know you could buy a darn nice home a few years ago for what these things run. The buyer needs a comfort zone from the seller that he is making the right choice, and that he is getting a bargin regardless of the final sell price or NADA. He needs to have the preception that he has made a good and fair deal. Dialogue goes a long way toward that point.

We think about that a lot and where would be the most economical place to call home. We full time out of South Dakota, but really don't want to stay there all year. If I had to, I'd better be old and decrepit and not driving anymore. Don't want to deal with that white stuff!

Sue - pick somewhere warmer than the Dakotas to live in winter - then return back there for the summer and fall months. Upper MW is beautiful in summer and fall, but can be ugly in winter and spring.
Now Minnesota would not be a choice spot to winter in :) but just about anywhere SW or S or SE would not be too bad - I'm thinking about Page AZ - my brother from MN is thinking St. George UT or a little south of there but not south all the way into Vegas. Why not consider 2 lots and move back and forth?

As far as economical goes - smaller towns with a good access to medical facilities would answer my needs - especially if there is a good body of water nearby. Nice people in smaller towns. T or C New Mexico? Lake Havesu (sp)? Need more green? JC Oregon. Then your close to the plant if you need work on the coach :) easy access to thge coast!! Not a bad place to live. Inland NW isn't to bad either, we have all four seasons but milder than you have back there.
Excellent medical and tons of lakes and rivers - places to recreate up in the mountains - and nice people for the most part.

How about forming a dealership cooperative for CC owners only - could put together a web page for listing the equipment for sale, make arrangements for taking trade in units at a wholesale number for clients who need to trade in a unit, have financing and extended warranty available and subcontract service work needs to an outside entity.

That would give all prospective CC buyers an excellent place to find good quality used equipment all in one place - maybe bring in Foretravel and Prevost owners as well??

Page was our favorite place for Fall, early winter and Spring. We had a houseboat we'd go back and forth with. Lots to do and see in the area, like a movie set and old ghost town, North Rim of the Grand Canyon And a Wal Mart for Bill G.

Funny you should mention Lake Havasu....we have an empty home there that we are headed towards after this current repair to sell. We full time and the kids are gone and don't need that house anymore.
We have a lot at Latitude 49 in Blaine, Wa......WAY COOLER than Havasu in the summer! As for the winter, we've spent it in the southwest, mostly Havasu, but after we get the house on the market we'll probably head towards the Phoenix area to be near family....FIL is 92 and fun to be around.
We've spent our summers near Rapid City, SD, Minnesota and Michigan, until we bought the lot in Blaine. All beautiful country and the Blaine lot makes it a day's drive to JC (for work...LOL) I was really thinking where we'd settle down (exit plan) after full timing in a few years. SD is good for registrations, but it would be hard to stay there all year! What state/area is the best for settling down as for taxes etc.?

We'll be back to Blaine next spring. We really enjoyed it there this summer.
We're near Salt Lake now getting the inverter replaced. After that is done we'll be in Az. for the winter.
