Power Tech Generator

We have a 7KW Power Tech, mounted in the driver's side bay. How do you change the fan belt. Doesn't have a belt tension-er and the radiator makes it hard/impossible to get to the pulley in the back.

I checked my manual and itsays nothing about replacing the belt. My suggestion is to try to contact the manufacturer if they are still in business.

This I have done a couple of times. As you noted there is no tensioner which makes it tricky.
First you must remove the fan guard to gain access to the water pump pulley. To relieve the belt tension, you must "loosen" the four 10mm bolt heads on the water pump pulley enough that the pulley can be pulled forward until it clears the small centering hub. Then you can slip the belt over the pulley by tilting it. You might even have to completely remove two or more of the pulley bolts. You then have to "fish" the belt around the fan blade to completely remove it. It is best NOT to remove all four bolts, as aligning the bolt holes becomes VERY difficult. Reverse the process to install the new belt. The new belt will be tighter than the old one, so it may require more tilting of the pulley.
Wear gloves!!! The radiator fins will otherwise shave the skin right off your hands.

I agree. PowerTech responded very quickly to my recent question.
Also, my older PT7000 does have a belt tensioner mounted to the outside left of the radiator shroud. If the generator were mounted parallel to the coach length in a cabinet with the fuel filter faced outwords the tensioner would not be seen.

My GenSet is mounted in a nose slide.

Remove the Fan Guard screen outside only, Then Roll off the Belt from the crankshaft pully thats it, Called Power tech in Florida and this is the way they do it. Did mine four years ago still going strong. Got an exact size at NAPA. Ken Retired Caterpillar service Tech BTW on the 2000 aAllures they have a 8kw Power tech tryed to help the owner on his turns out they have a squarrel cage Blower Fan. We gave up on his, Ken 99 Allure 30356.
