RV Tires - North Texas Dealer

Got a good recommendation for finding a fair price on new tires in the DFW/North Texas area? The Michelin web site points to Camping World...not sure that's where I want to go. I also need new batteries for the Smart Tire sensors. I'm got 38,000 miles and approaching 6 years on these tires. Tread is still OK, but I'm worried about side wall failures...due to age.

I can't tell you where to go in Texas but I can suggest that you stay away from old line truck tire dealers. They know nothing about RV tires and every time one of my neighbors go to a local tire shop they get the wrong tires. We live in Florida and everyone tries to save money by buying tires locally at truck shops. Just this summer I have a friend that was sold 2 tires that were rated at 55 mph and another friend that was told his 6 year old tires were ok and then he had 2 blows out and $8000 in damage. He purchased 4 tires from a truck stop on I 81 and is now looking for another tire shop to correct the problems he has with the new non-RV tires he purchased. Good luck,

With your smart tire, you can not just replace the batteries, you will have to buy new inner wheel sending units, I have talked to Les Schwab in J.C. about getting smart tire for my coach, and I asked him about battery replacement, he said '' can not'' be done, Must replace the unit in each tire at $70.00 each. The gentleman I talked to said he hoped the price would come down in the future.tire, so I decided to just forget about the smart tire, and replace the tires sooner than I was going to .

When I was pricing tires the following dealer had a good inventory of RV Michelins. TCI 3101 N Houston School Rd. Lancaster, Tx 75124 TCI is a rather large chain of Tire Stores.

Yup. The SmartTire units are a glob of epoxy and batteries not replaceable. Talked to SmartTire and they indicated NO trade-up allowance to the newer versions. Have to search to find the old sending units or give it up and buy the entire new package. The Doran system is getting better-looking all the time - don't need to remove tires from rims to install. You lose the temperature sensing, but pressure is what I always check.

David, talk to the service writers at Buddy Gregg in Dallas. There is a guy that comes to their place and does tire work. When CC recalled the Toyo tires, I made a deal with him in swapping Toyos for Michelens. He can even align your coach--did mine about four years ago and have had no problems.

I purchased two Bridgestones R294 for the front axle from Buddy Gregg as part of a repair of damage from a blowout. They charged me about $600 each. (Ouch!)

I just replaced the four drive axle tires with Michelin XZA2's (275/70R22.5) from Plano Tire for $1970 drive out price including balancing with the beads. I shopped several places and they had the best price and were convenient.
