Extended Warrenty

Mine is through DFS. I have not had a claim, but a friend has used them and had good service.

Here's some of the email I recieved when looking for it.

Thank you for your recent visit to our site at
www.unitedstateswarranty.com I

am sending you the Warranty quote for your 98 Intrigue Grandview Motorhome.

THE plan is the "DFS PLATINUM ADVANTAGE." All components on the coach and

chassis are covered. The backer is Lyndon-DFS (Deutsche Financial Services)

warranty services. They have a TOLL FREE number for claims. They pay their

claims anywhere you may have a breakdown in the United States and Canada.

This means no out of pocket expense on your part except the deductible. THE

DFS PLATINUM ADVANTAGE is available with a $50.00 deductible which could save

you hundreds of dollars over the term of the contract compared to a $100.00

or $200.00 deductible.

THE DFS PLATINUM ADVANTAGE is the only warranty company EXCLUSIVELY ENDORSED

by the RVDA (Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association).

The coverage to include Parts and Labor would be as follows: Diesel Engine,

Transmission, Drive Axle, Suspension, Steering, Air Conditioning, Heating/Cooling Systems, Fuel Delivery System, Brakes, Electrical, Electronic

High-tech, Chassis Frame, Hot Water Heater, Waste System, Fresh Water

System, Central/Roof Air Conditioning, Range, Oven, Microwave, LP Gas System,

Heating System, Refrigerator, Auxiliary Power Plant/Generator, Back up

Camera, Leveling Jacks, TV(s) (including big screens) VCR/VCP, Washer/Dryer,

Antenna Motors, Stereo Systems, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS), Satellite

System, Electric Step and Seals & Gaskets. They will also cover all printed

circuit boards, fittings & connections, gauges & switches and all newly

introduced components. Rental Car coverage is $50.00 per day, Towing is

$150.00 and Trip Interruption (which pays for Hotel & Meals in the event of a

breakdown) at $100.00 per day are included.

We should all keep one thing in mind when we buy an extended warranty, that is that if a conponent breaks and causes a covered item to go bad, it is not covered. For example, if a radiator hose goes bad and you lose coolent and that causes the engine to blow, you are not covered! All of the covered items must go bad internally and the problem can not be caused by a part not on the covered item list. Many people have problems with this type of claim with extended warranty companies. So read the policy carefully.

You make a very good point. I have had an extended warranty through affinity with is somehow affiliated with Good Sams, but I have never made a claim so I don't know how they would handle. A lot of good RV dealers I've talked to have tried to discourage me on these extended service plans, claiming they can be really difficult to collect a claim from. I would love to see some comments from people who have actually made claims and have been paid. That would be the best way to judge. Also, there seems to be a wide spread in warranty prices.

I have been shopping and came across DFS Service Agreement. One item which impressed me (I tested it today while looking for policies) was the speed they answer the claims adjuster line -- less than 30 seconds at Noon today. I understand they take great pride with their 7x24 telephone coverage. I remember when I had some auto work done under a different company's service agreement, both the dealer and I, on different occasions, had to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour on hold.

Pricier than CSP, less than US National quote.

Anyone finding a good DFS Platinum Advantange quote? 7yr, 75,000 mile with $50 deductable, (of course rear diesel option, etc) was $3900.

Herb, which dealer gave you a quote for $3900 for DFS Platinum program? I am definitely interested in purchasing an extended warranty thru DFS. I have had two other coaches and I had DFS on my 97 Magna and I was very pleased with DFS. We had several problems with that coach, hot water heater went out, alternator and isolator and the turbo shaft broke.....DFS paid for all of the above. I had paid $5700 for the warranty, 100,000 miles, 7 years, platinum. When I sold the rig it had 50k miles and there was 4 years left on the warranty and they refunded $3900 back to me when I canceled. In contrast I had a 2000 Affinity and did the extended warranty with United States Warranty with Guaranty, paid $3800 kept it one year, never used it because the coach was under factory warranty the entire time. When I canceled the policy which was 7yr, 75,000 miles I was only refunded $1200. I think it is a no brainer as far as which company I will choose this time around! Anyway, Guaranty does not sell DFS so I am going to shop some of the dealers. Please let me know any other info that you have. Thank you. Dale Hollick Affinity #6129

Message 1726 described it very well. Also see 2739

Also message 2749 provides an agent name (from who I previously purchased a travel trailer many years ago).
Deutsche Financial Services, a unit of Deutsche Bank Group, is based in St. Louis, Missouri with operations across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Deutsche Bank Group is one of the world's largest financial institutions with assets in excess of $870 billion on March 31, 2002.

I have not purchased the policy (yet). You have 364 days or 11,999 miles (whichever first) from initial purchase of coach to get "new" coach policy pricing. Policy still starts from date of coach purchase. Money does not leave your wallet until 300+ days later!
