Printer for the couch

We are interested in getting a printer for our laptop to use on the road. Size and weight are top priorities. Is anyone using one they especially like?

We use the HP 1300 printer which has a flatbed scanner that works great as a copier too. It fits nicely in the cabinet above the computer desk.

Hi Dale,

We carry a printer but it sets in a storage cabinet most of the time. One of the issues we found with an inkjet printer is that the cartridges dry out after a lengthly period of not being used. We dumped the inkjet and went to a laser printer. More expensive initially, but the cartridges remain useable. Also, evaluate your needs between color and B/W. Color laser is more expensive than B/W.

HP 450 is very small (also slow) but I carry one with me in my truck and transfer to MH when traveling.
Beautiful quality printing and can work DC or on batteries if needed.
I carry a small inverter to power laptop and printer in my truck.

Entirely satisfactory if you are not in a hurry.

Look at the Canon IP90 Pixma Printer. Get a Bluetooth adapter, a battery with the printer and you will not have to connect the printer to your computer with any wires to print. You can put the printer in a storage area to print if you wish. Works great and it's compact.

The HP Deskjet 460 is tiny, powerful and produces very high quality printing. It is also Bluetooth and WiFi compatable but you need the card for it.

Dale, I would second the suggestion for the Cannon IP90. I use it with my laptop and a photographer told me he will use it for prints from his digitial camera.

We use a Canon Pixma iP90 portable inkjet printer. It is appx. 13" x 7" x 2", and weighs 2-3 lbs. It prints 4x6, 5x7, and 8.5x11 in photo quality. We are very pleased with it after a year. You can find it online for $200.
