Does anybody have any experience with...

I have recently joind the ranks of Country Coach ownership ( '99 Affinity) and am having a wonderful time learning this coach. A couple of things I've been intrigued about associated with the Inverter and the Link 2000. Seems nobody has a handle on this unit.

I think the Link 2000 will be quite beneficial in managing my Batteries. However, my Amp Hrs only accumulates negative hours and when plugged into shore power doesn't count back to zero like the Owners Manual reads. CC says the Link 2000 was developed by an Electrical Engineer (no joke) and it takes a degree in EE to use it.
So they instruct me to be concerned only about "Voltage" and the bottom indicator lights "AC in, Charge, Accept and Float". I'm not satisfied with that explanation and was wondering if someone would be willing to correspond on e-mail about this topic.

Also, the Book indicates that we should be "Equalizing" the batteries "...every 30 days when in cylcing service." Are you guys doing this?

Bob Ewing here! I expected you to be and expert on power mgmt. by now. "the count to zero is confusing, usually after a sustained period of shore power your Link should read plus something. The minute you disconnect the drawdown starts and will read neg. numbers quickly. As I understand it the Link has reset and the neg. number you read is from zero. I too have never seen "Zero". I think it actually never appears!
Try this, watch AmpHrs and Volts, there is a relationship. For instance the AmpHrs might read -180.0 and when you switch to the Volts read 12.2. This might be more comfortable than AmpHrs.
Just remember No Engine Driven Generation is as effective as Shore Power. Your generator does a good job up to about 12.8-12.9 volts any higher will be too slow and really not worth the wear on your equipment. In volt do 12v - 12.8-9v.

You bet I EQUALIZE!!! Helps clean the plates.

P.S. Don't try to run your generator all the way to float. Lots of hours to do that. A couple of hours will get you to Accept Many more hours would be needed to reach Float.

The Links manual will tell you how to reset the unit and that will straighten out those strange numbers.
