High Winds SoCal

Heading from Bakersfield to Aguanga, CA off I-15 on Monday morning.
With the winds bad, I'm trying to decide between I-5 through LA or Hwy 58 to US 395 and connect with I-15.

Any thought on which would be the best?

Jock,

You have bad choices either way. The I5 will be a mess with the fires in Malibu and Castaic and the wind is horrible up there right now. The I15 thru Fontana has not been good either since a few trucks blew over this morning. The wind isn't as bad down here in Murrieta but it is breezy. Some friends of mine came thru Palm Springs this morning as said it was scary. Don't know what to tell you at this point. I might check the weather forecast and see if a really early morning drive might save you from some of the winds. In any case be very careful, take your time and watch out for everybody else.

Are you on your way to Outdoor Resorts by chance?

Have a safe trip,
Kathy

Jock,

I would stay at least until Wednesday in Bakersfield and not venture to Outdoor Resorts at this point. We have so many road closures, so much traffic, horrible winds and then the fires!!! At last check the 15 was closed at Cajon, 215 was closed at Cajon, 15 was closed from Temecula to Escondido, and it goes on and on. The air is terrible due to all the fires, including Fallbrook and Romona by where you are going. The winds are terrible to travel in. And the 5 up by Valencia and north is also packed with evacuees from all the fires up there. I don't know what closures are up there but I'm sure lots. It also seems like every 6 hours we get another major fire starting somewhere. The news is now saying we are experiencing hurricane force winds that should be better after 4 pm Wednesday maybe into Thursday. Enjoy Bakersfield and don't venture into the area. I'd hate to see anyone end up like the eighteen wheelers we saw on their sides today. Check road conditions with the CHP to be sure.

Stay safe and be patient,
Kathy
