Aqua Hot help

Has anyone had trouble with the mixing valve on the Aqua Hot. Got to Disney yesterday and all I could get was lukewarm water from the faucet. I Checked and Aqua Hot and it was working fine. I turned the mixing valve open all the way and I can now take a warm shower. Up to this point the mixing valve in its normal position produced scalding hot water.

The Aqua Hot burner in my '06 Allure would not light. I had it repaired in Greely, CO. He (Cezar) pushed a reset button on the high temp. sensor which made it light. He then replaced the sensor. It worked for a while. It then quit again. Each time the green light on the switch goes out after about 30 seconds. No other trouble lights go on on the board down by the heater. I checked the fluid and it was low. I filled it thinking the float swith might have shut down the heater because of low fluid level but it still does the same thing. I don't know where the reset button is that Cezar used to get the heater working. Does anyone know where it is?

I have a 2008 Country Coach Intrgue the aqua hot comes on for ten second then the indicator light dims and start to flash real fast and the burner turns off another ten seconds the light goes out then in a couple of minutes the blower turns off I have checked the sensors and also bypassed the sensors, replaced the fuel filter and checked the nozzle all the lights on the control panel stay green and seem to work right How do you make sure the motor is turning fast enough it is a little noisy the unit shows 377 hrs does it have a blow by switch like a gas furnace

The light goes out because the burner has failed to ignite . The blower always runs for a timed period after the burner shuts down regardless of the reason even if it did not ignite. The unit utilizes an optical flame sensor to determine if it has ignited or not. That also can be a source of the problem if it is faulty or the glass lenses are occluded.
There are numerous things that can cause a burner not to ignite and the trouble shooting procedure is lengthy. I suggest that you pay Roger Berke a visit at his RVHydronicheat forum. The link is http://forums.rvhydronicheaterrepair.com/. He is an authorized AquaHot tech and a wealth of information. You might have to join the forum but if you have an Aquahot system it is well worth it.
I will add that it is good group protocol to sign your posts with you name, coach number, coach model and year. In the future it will help us with responses that are pertinent to your situation.

? Off hand it sounds like the flame sensor is not seeing the ignition. Could be faulty or just dirty.

It isn't clear from your description if the burner has fired for any time during the 10 second start-up. If a flame is established, the optical sensor reads that and allows the heating cycle to continue. If you do get a burn I'd check the optical flame sensor first. Another possibility is your ignition coil whose spark ignites the diesel fuel spray. Also a fuel feed problem would prevent ignition. To check the ignition coil you'll need to first make sure it is getting 12 VDC. The diagnostic procedure in the manual covers how to do this. If you are getting power you'll need to visually check for "spark". Be careful with the wiring as the Germans made the black wire +12 which isn't the usual red color we expect. The other wire (I think brown or yellow) is -12.
If your control box isn't supplying +12 VDC to the ignition coil then the control box has problems. Taking some voltage readings will quickly establish what electrical parts are bad (if any). I gather a control box and ignition coil is $1K worth of parts. Give or take. I certainly hope neither are bad.
A 150 second purge cycle is normal to blow out fumes and cool things down after a normal burn. It's a dumb cycle that occurs every time the unit thinks it fired.
Motors last between 3000 and 5000 hours. 377 hours depicts an almost "new" unit. But anything can fail at any time as we all know. Some of them had a plastic coupling between motor and turbine. If that is busted you'll get no air flowing and no spray at all. Need to check on the tailpipe side for that situation. Fuel vapor lock might be another problem. A possible stuck fuel solenoid is another thing to check. Some of this will require visual inspection. If you are not comfortable with doing this it's best to ask for knowledgeable help. Working with flammable fuels, pressurized diesel sprays, sparks, ignition and possible flames in a confined space has risks associated with it. You wouldn't want to get hurt and/or set something on fire. Please be extremely careful and make prudent decisions about service!! Good luck.

I got on the road and the first night finds us short of hot water. Electric unit still works. Diesel side will not start. Switch goes on then off a few minutes later. I am going to Eugene but not for a few days. Plan to call Kevin. Anyone have a idea for a short term fix?

take a look at your control board down in the storage bay. if the "low tank sensor light" is lit, be sure you have adequate boilant in the tank, and add some if not - since it is 50/50 dilution, you can get by with just adding a small amount of distilled water... if the level is ok, then probably your sensor is out (pretty common) and your can cross the wires and bypass the sensor and that will get you by until you can have the sensor replaced.

Here is my experience. I have a Hurricane diesel heater similar to aqua hot.

Question - You say the switch goes on and then off. What happens when the switch goes on? Does the diesel boiler start? Do you hear the roar of the burner working?

If you answer is yes you hear the boiler go on (roar), and then it goes off after a few minutes, I can tell you mine did this too a few times. The burner on these boilers gets soiled, clogged. They need to be cleaned. However, I also had to have my fuel lines replaced. I was told by the repair shop the the new formulation of diesel damaged the fuel lines.

We hardly ever use our diesel boiler. Our 10 gallon electric water heater is normally good for almost any length of shower.
