First Avenue Allure value/floorplans/specs

Yahoo Message Number: 35545
I joined this group to get information on a possible "new" coach for us. I have looked for information on the 2003 Allure First Avenue (40 foot 3 slide), and have found some references with useful information to it on this group. However I have not found the model on the NADA web site, nor in the NADA price book, nor at the official CC web site where older models/specs/floorplans are listed. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Where can I get the specs and floorplans? Where can I get the best pricing/value information on this unit (or others)? What does anyone know about this model, both pros and cons? What are the most important things to look out for? What else might be considered as best value in the under $150K price range?

We're retired and hopefully going to be full-time in the next year (currently about half timers), but with a 36 ft single slide gas coach now. I've looked at CCs for a long time, and know their high quality.
I also know that most any motorhome requires lots of TLC and have their own quirks and weak points. Your experiences, insights and comments are appreciated.

Keith, I own an 03 Allure 40' 1st Ave Cascade 2 slide. To view all info you need on coach go to www.countrycoach.com click on Allure then click on Model Achive then click on 2003.
Pros: We love the coach, have 60,000 miles, rides great, the Cummins 370 has been plenty of engine it has 1200 ft. lbs of torque. The 2 slide has been a wonderful floor plan.

Only Con: When Country Coach design this unit they set the Engine very low in the engine box to accommodate good head room in the Bedroom area. The work with Cummins to design a Low Profile Fiberglass Oil Pan for the engine to gain as much dimension as possible between Oil Pan and ground.
It isn't enough. On only moderate driveways wherein the front end of coach is going up while the back is going down you can drag the oil pan, which is a Excedrin Headache.

Country makes a Skid Plate to assist this problem, but I configured super heavy duty Steel Wheels attached to the engine frame. So is I get in the "Trough" situation the wheels hit and role.
If you wish to discuss e-mail me at paparn@...
Thanks, Mike - Allure #30898

We have a 2003 Newport triple slide Allure 1st Avenue Edition. You're correct, we couldn't find it in NADA either. Even when we've considered trading on another coach, the dealer couldn't find it listed. Apparently they only list a Newport triple slide as a 2004, and not a 2003. I've tried to check with Country Coach, but to no avail. By the way, we love our coach, and haven't seen anything to compare for teh price and quality. As you know they keep going up and up in price........-
