odor from black water holding tank

I have a 99 Magna with a microflush toliet which has never given us an odor problem since it was new 3 years ago. In the past couple of months we have started getting odors inside .I use the black water tank flush out on every dump and run lots of water each time. I do not have a washer dryer and the drain is sealed with a plug. Does anyone have any ideas. Dave Spain in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Thanks

Dave, if your toilet has vent holes up near the rim inside the bowl, you may need to let the bowl fill w/water until the water fills the built in trap; (trap is built into the wall of the bowl). the water will evaporate after a while and you need to refill. larry in Port Richey Florida

I found (in my '98 Intrigue) that the connection from the toilet to the black tank looked like a "butt" connection with an attempted seal with some type of putty. The putty had pulled away from the connection. I did not try to improve the engineering.... just resealed with the exiting putty.
On that coach it was a bear to get to the top of the holding tanks and I only spotted that problem while trying to track down a leak in the freshwater tank..... had to remove the fiberglass shell from the wet storage bay... I'll not try that again!

Anyway..... that seemed to be the source of some odor in my coach. The big problem, as I see it..... nobody would ever spot that defect by accident.
It's just another possibility for you to think about.
