Cruise Control Speed Bumping Feature

Yahoo Message Number: 2388
Hi Folks,

Starting in 2000 or sooner, the cruise control SET and RES (resume) toggle switch has a speed increase and decrease feature which is not described in the User's Guide (Illustration 2-03 for Allure). With cruise control on, once the desired speed is set, momentarily pressing the SET side of the toggle switch will increase your speed 1 mph or momentarily pressing the RES will decrease your speed 1 mph. Repeated pressings will bump your speed accordingly (e.g., 3 momentarily presses of SET = 3 mph increase).

Fred,

I have a late '98 Intrigue that works a little different than you described. Once in cruise control I can depress the set side of the button & it will decrease the speed as long as you hold it, not just 1 mph. Depress the resume side & it acts the same in increasing the speed as long as you hold it. I've never tried just bumping the button--it may bump it just 1 mph. I don't know if this post is helpful, but I don't remember this feature being explained in the owners' manual either.

Hi Steve,

When looking at the Cummins data sheets, it is the way you described it for 'older coaches'. On the 2000, if you press and hold the RES (reset), the speed is continuosly lowered until release. But the bumping feature does work in either direction. On some, SET increases, on others SET decreases and RES (reset) does the reverse.

Fred,

Thanks for the info. Always good to know how the "new stuff" works. It seems nothing stays the same.
