Jerry,

When you put the AGM batteries in did you reprogram the links? CCI tells me everything needs reprograming when you change batteries to another style. I also understand that all the inverters brands we see on the market are manufactured by the same company. There have been several buy outs recently, so changing brand names may not help. We had problems with our Heart as well and took it to a Heart teck who worked on it at his home and it has worked fine after that.

Bill, thanks for thinking of me. I've owned three CCs and they all had Heart I/Cs. They all interfered with AM radio. My neighbors are really pissed. This Magna is the only one with the Link control panel. I reprogrammed it for AGMs as soon as they were installed. I contacted CC and asked what to do about the overheating. They said they were working on it. That was a year ago. I am a retired electronics engineer and know a little about this subject. I'm sure the RFI can be reduced by shielding and isolation circuits. The RFI doesn't bother me enough to make a major effort to work on it yet. I do feel bad about my neighbors trying to listen to weak AM radio stations. The overheating is just poor design. I have a 3-stage charger for my boat which controls current, voltage, power factor, and protects against battery overheat, short circuit and reverse hookup. It also will perform equalization. It doesn't put out much RFI and does all that for a couple hundred. An inverter produces much more RFI than a good charger and it is a more difficult problem. It can be done tho'. jerry in NM, '00 Magna.

This stuff is beyond me and due to the fact that I am very hard of hearing do not listen to am radio anyway. Jerry below states that the inverter produces much more RFI then the charger...I am therefore wondering if you have tried turning off the inverter, and running the am radio on battery power? The battery charger will still work with the inverter off. Dummy me realizes that you run the radio off of the inverter...would it work on batteries? The battery charger part of the inverter will still charge the house batteries...
