SkyLight Cover??

We have a skylight in our shower and would like to keep the bedroom door open at night. However my bride is quite sensitive to light in the bedroom and cannot sleep after sunrise. Since she won't change her lifestyle (and neither will I)to the old "early to bed, early to rise...", we keep the door closed.

Does anyone know of an easy way to totally block out the light from the skylight at night and then remove the item in the morning?

Try cutting a piece of styrofoam or other lightweight foam just a little bigger than the inside opening. That way it will fit tight into the opening and hold itself in place due to the friction and light weight.

In my previous MH I used a piece of the foil covered bubble wrap stuff for the sky light and vents both. Just cut it a little larger than the opening and "stuff it" up in the opening. Have not make one for the new rig yet.

Or, try a piece of window quilt and use velcro dots to attach it.

We use "FoamBoard" that you buy at Office Max, Staples, Michaels, etc. It comes in large pieces that you can cut with an Exacto knife to just a bit larger than the skylight so all you do is push it up and it'll stay...pull it down in the morning. We use the same Foam Boards to place in the window wells of our BR to block out the sunlight and make it REALLY dark. Three fit into the wells of our Suite of Dreams large window, two that were cut down, fit into the headboard end window.
All work great.

We tried the foam, but it permitted too much light into the bath room. We didn't have any foil covered bubble wrap so we tried the foam board.
The foam board works great. We got black foam board for the shower skylight. Cut it about 1/8" larger than the opening and put two small pieces of duct tape (pulldown handles) on two edges of the board. We tried white board and noticed that light penetrated it. We figured that the skylight glass would keep most of the heat out so we switched to the black board. Now we can keep the bathroom door open at night -- this provides for better air flow all night.

We got a day/night shade from Camping World with the light blocker.
It works well, and cuts out most of the light, yet you can easily pull it to the side when you want the light. It was around $50.
