Country Coach Talk / Re: Recommendations for repair shops in Fredericksburg VA area
Last post by CCT -A couple of options to check to see if they have recommendations are the following 2 repair shops (I don't believe they do RV PURCHASE inspections, don't get confused with STATE inspections)
1) Truck Repair Shop in Fredericksburg, VA | Liberty ... Truck and RV repair center
2) RV SERVICE OF VA - Welcome to RV Service of Virginia ... In Ashland which is just a bit south.

Upgrades & Restorations / routing solar panel wires from roof to electric / battery bay
Last post by PaulKeates -I've added ~ 4,000 watts of solar panels to the roof. This covers 50% of the roof. 4,000 watts more to add! 8,000 watts will provide all the power I need for boondocking. I built some heavy duty sliding brackets, rails etc so that there is a second solar panel mounted under the top one.
Even if my coach had the factory solar panel option (I heard some do) I'm sure the wiring would need to be upgraded.
I want to get that solar power down into the electrical bay where the inverter (EG4 12000xp) is located.
Any tips on routing would be very welcome!
I've taken the roof refrigerator vent off and can easily see down to the area where the bottom of the refrigerator is, but that's about 1 foot above the electrical bay still.
Do I simply gamble and drill down until I get all the way through into the bay below?
Do I have to pull the refrigerator out - assuming there might be an accessible pass-through in that area?
And next will be the fun of identifying the generator and shore line inputs to connect to the inverter.
The fun will never stop, I'm sure.
My rig: 2000 Country Coach Affinity 42 foot, tag axle.
Any thoughts or comments gratefully received!
Cheers,
Paul

Country Coach Talk / Re: Country Coach vs Monaco
Last post by bubblyed -I am in the market for a mid-2000's coach and have narrowed down my search to the 'Oregon' coaches from that era. So mostly looking at Monaco's (Sig/Exec), Beaver's (Marquis/Pat), and Country Coaches (Magna, Intrigue).
My question is about service. Does either of these brands carry an overly positive or negative reputation for service? Meaning is it going to be harder or easier to find service for one of these coaches over the other? We will be living in the greater Washington, DC area if that adds anything to this discussion.
Thanks!

General Repair / Re: Rear AC and 110 plugs shutting off
Last post by CCMagna -- Bad Shore power plug. These do go bad and weak or corroded blade contacts heat under load (especially during AC operation) and loose contact. Wiggle the cord while monitoring if AC cuts out or when it goes out.
- ATS contacts. Same as above, these do age out and need to be replaced. Pitted relay contacts cause drop-out under load.
- Main breaker (or subpanel breaker feeding L2 circuits). Again age is the enemy. An old breaker can weaken and then heating under load and momentarily opening. Especially likely if it recovers within 0-30 minutes consistently.
- Inverter thermal shutdown (if these outlets are on inverter): If AC loads are high, the inverter may hit over-temperature, shut off, then restart when cooled.

Chassis/Engine Repair / Re: 2006 45ft Affinity leaning to one side.
Last post by CCMagna -The travel mode is concerning, I would start by checking the ride height valves. Does it start of at normal ride height and then lisp off to the right or does it simply start off right shifted. If it starts off fine and then drops off I would suspect a massive air leak or the HWH ride height solenoid (on the six packs) may have gone bad, those are a simple replacement.
On the level mode, is it the entire right side that dips or just the front right or rear right? The HWH system should wake up, sense the coach is not level and then turn on the HWH pump to inflate the appropriate air bags to level the coach. Do you hear the pump come on during this 24hr period?
